Tynewydd Centre - Barry
The Tynewydd Centre is an open access mental health resource centre located in Barry supporting people with mental health problems.
Summary of aims & objectives:
Mind in the Vale's Mental Health Resource Centres aim to provide:
Services:
- In addition to providing information, advice and support in a friendly setting, the Tynewydd Centre also organises activities, courses and events using a variety of community venues and resources, and hosts a range of user-led self help and social groups.
- Other resources include a user computer with internet access, a therapeutic garden, access to musical instruments etc. Good value lunches are also provided.
- A range of courses aimed at creative and vocational development and achieving a sense of well-being.
- Volunteering opportunities and support to develop the skills, experience and confidence needed to find fulfilling occupations.
- Self-help support groups.
- Outreach service for information, advice and support.
- Signposting to other agencies and organisations to help you get the support you need.

- Meditation Group: User led group on Thursdays 1pm -2:30pm at Castleand Community Centre, Barry. For further information, please contact Ecid at Tynewydd Centre 01446 746191.
- Abandoned: User led rock/blues band who play benefits and run ‘jam’ workshops on Mondays in Market St, Barry, where you can find your inner rock star. If your interested contact Clive Harris via 01446 746191
- Gardening Group: This group of volunteers helps maintain the Tynewydd Centres acclaimed Therapeutic Garden. For information please contact: 01446 746191.

Drawing for Beginners at
Tynewydd Centre
The Drawing for Beginners class is held in the Tynewydd Centre Barry on Wednesday evenings. The course is open to anyone who wishes to improve their art ability, meet new people and gain confidence. If you are interested in joining the class or would like to find out more information, please contact 01446 746 191. Below you can see some of the art recently completed by members of the class.
