HEAD GARDENER ENJOYS PICTURE OF WILD NATURE
"Artist Claire Davies talking to Alex Andrews, Head Gardener at
Dyffryn Gardens"
Story:
Alex Andrews, Head Gardener at Dyffryn Gardens enjoyed seeing a picture of wild nature at a reception held at the Travellers Gallery on 17th May to celebrate the unfolding of the art installation "Reclaimed by Nature". This is being painted in stages by artist Claire Davies onto the walls of the Travellers Gallery in Barry Station until the end of May. < span>P>
"My installation represents the belief that we control our environment, yet when we leave our constructions, nature reclaims the space rapidly," stated Claire Davies.
She began painting her mural in early April on to blank white walls, showing many trees and plants native to the Vale of Glamorgan changing through the seasons, pointing to the beauty of the natural rhythm of life around us that we can fail to enjoy as we try to impose our own sense of order on the world. The exhibition is open Mondays to Fridays, mornings only, until 31st May.
The Travellers Café is run by Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan as a work experience setting for people recovering from mental health problems, and the Gallery inside the Café is run in partnership with VOGA (Vale of Glamorgan Artists).
