The Penarth Centre – covering Eastern Vale

The Penarth Centre is an open access mental health centre located in Penarth supporting people with mental health problems.

Summary of aims & objectives:
Mind in the Vale’s Mental Health Resource Centres aim to provide:

A social centre with activities shaped by the people who use them,

  • Information on a wide range of issues and resources
  • Support for people in developing the skills, experience and confidence they need to find fulfilling occupation.
  • Assistance in helping people get the help and support they need from other organisations

Services:

In addition to providing information, advice and support in a friendly setting, the Penarth Centre also organises activities, courses and events using a variety of community venues and resources.

  • A range of courses are aimed towards creative and vocational development and achieving a sense of wellbeing.
  • Volunteering opportunities and support to develop the skills, experience and confidence needed to find fulfilling occupations.

User Led Group: Doversity

This user led group manages the users’ computer equipment and materials.  They meet monthly, check centre notice board for dates.

Activities:

    Meditation sessions – Every Monday 11am – 1pm @ The Kymin, Penarth.

    Careers Wales Info sessions – 1st Tuesday of every month (at the Penarth Centre).

    We arrange WEA accredited Courses:

    Computer Courses @ Trinity Church, Woodland Place, Penarth.

    (WEA) Creative Writing @ The Kymin, Beach Hill, Penarth. (WEA)

    Wellbeing, every Wednesday
